Annually, the City of Decatur’s Historical and Architectural Sites Commission recognizes individuals and organizations who demonstrate appreciation for the preservation of historical and architectural heritage through various renovation or restoration projects.  These individuals receive accolades at the Preservation Awards Program held each year during Preservation Week.  We are pleased to inform you that this year the Heritage Network of Decatur and Macon County has selected the Decatur Genealogical Society to receive the award they present annual for the wonderful work done by the Society, not only in the beautiful renovation of an existing building for their needs, but in the masterful way the Genealogical records are being preserved and made available for study by individuals.

Award winning projects will be highlighted during the awards presentation on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, 7:00 PM at the new home of the Decatur Area Arts Council, 125 North Water Street.  A dessert reception will be held immediately following the presentations.  You will receive a formal invitation to the award’s program.
