Association of Museums "The primary purpose of the Association
is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and methods among member organizations
in Illinois who share goals relating to preservation and interpretation
of history, prehistory, natural and built environments, and social scientific,
cultural and/or artistic endeavors." The Association's 2000 Annual Conference
will be held on Oct. 25-27 in Mundelein, Illinois.

institutions, local government bodies and nonprofit agencies."

of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency is to collect, preserve, interpret

Register of Historic Places. "Authorized under
the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Register is
part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private
efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect our historic and archeological
resources. Properties listed in the Register include districts, sites,
buildings, structures, and objects that are significant in American history,
architecture, archeology, engineering, and culture."
National
Register Information System (NRIS) can help you determine what
sites are, nor are not, on the National Register of Historic Places, as
well as learning about the process of submitting a site for inclusion on
the Register.
American
Association for State and Local History "... provides leadership,
service, and support for its members, who preserve and interpret state
and local history in order to make the past more meaningful in American
Society."
American
Association of Museums. "Through advocacy, professional education,
information exchange, accreditation, and guidance on current professional
standards of performance, AAM assists museum staff, boards, and volunteers
across the country to better serve the public."
