4th Annual Millikin Undergraduate
Mathematics Research Conference
(Formerly Illiana Undergraduate Mathematics
Research conference)
Saturday, November 6, 2010
Millikin University, Decatur, IL
We are pleased to announce the 4th annual Millikin
Undergraduate Mathematics Research Conference. We
are organizing this conference with the following goals in mind.
-
Creating
a forum for undergraduates to present results from this year's summer undergraduate
research experiences. The
material from these summer experiences will still be fresh in the
students’ minds, and the summer’s momentum will undoubtedly help their
motivation for putting a talk together.
-
Providing
an opportunity for students to demonstrate to graduate schools
and potential employers their abilities to engage in advanced mathematics
and to disseminate their results. Students will be able to refer
to this experience on applications, in resumes, and in interviews.
-
Promoting interest in mathematics among undergraduates.
Students who wish to speak on topics outside of summer research experiences
are welcome to do so, and we strongly encourage any interested
undergraduates to attend this conference, whether they wish to speak or they
wish to be a conference participant.
Breaking news! Dr. Nicholas Baeth of the
University of Central Missouri will be our plenary speaker. You can read
more about him here, and you can read more about his
talk here.
Want to register? Just send an email to Dr.
Joe Stickles of Millikin University. Be sure to include your name,
your institution, whether you are a faculty member or a student, and whether or
