Assignment Five

Summary, Analysis, Critique and Presentation on a Journal Article

Using your assigned or chosen article from a recent issue of English Journal, read and analyze the article carefully. The article should be at least five pages long. The articles will be available in the library for copying, either in the current issues or in one of the back issues.

Next, summarize the article, focusing on main points and recommendations made by the author. Pay particular attention to the "methods" of teaching the writer is reommending. Then, critique the article by including your opinion on the validity and strength of the piece, including whether the article could be useful a) to most Language Arts teachers and b) to you in particular.

Finally, take this information and use it to create a Powerpoint presentation, which will be placed within our Blackboard course for sharing with your peers. If time allows, you will also deliver this information orally to the rest of the class.
