Foul Words

The language!
It's so embarassing,
It seems so prevalent.
How can anyone accept this as normal?
Learned from parents? peers? or both?

Nursing Home

While I sit in my chair,
Staring vacantly
You went by
Smiled and greeted me.

You saw me as the person I was
Not the person I am now.
You knew me as a teacher,
Now you care for me.

You remind me of things
I used to do.
Planning, talking and walking.
I miss talking most of all.

Lives change unexpectedly
Glad you remember me.

Time of Storm

Dark clouds overhead
Thunder rumbling all around.
Large, hurried raindrops with marble sized hail
Lasking the ground.
Heavy winds blowing
Tree limbs dropping.
Cowering in the basement
In the candlelight.

Why?

Just heard you left for Korea
Why didn't you call?
To say good bye.
Don't you know
We may never talk again.

Worried for you.
Praying for you.
Writing you.
Missing you.

Be safe
Be careful
Call me!

With a deep breath
Looking at the view
White knuckles -
Gripping tightly
Safety far away.

Watching and listening.
Admiring hands flowing
Over the key board.
This prodigy -
My child.

Here and there
Aches all over
First hot
Then cold
Fatigue.

Green leaves
Red flowers
Buzzing bee
Sun shining
Gentle breeze.

Heavy eyelids
Head resting
Sleep arrives
Soft sighs
Cuddle blanket.

Tossing and turning
Aches all over
First hot
Then cold
Fatigue

Heavy eyelids
Head slumping
Soft sighs
Cuddley
Sleeping

White knuckles on the rail
From the lookout tower
Swaying beneath my feet
No up, no down for me.
Safety far away.

Tree leaves rustling in the breeze,
sound of falling water nearby,
watching the clouds float by
finding a cow and bunny in the clouds.
