Reading & Writing Assignments by Dates:

for 1/28

writing: two possible projects you are proposing to write & send me samples of your writing

for 2/4

genre analysis : go to the library or bookstore and re-consider favorite books you remember reading—why did you like those books so much? based on this favorite work in the genre, analyze common features and conventions of the genre you are planning to work in this semester

proposal writing: write a more detailed prospectus (overview) of your idea(s) for the project you will develop this semester—key issue, main characters, situation, setting, key scenes (or number of poems / range of work you will be exploring)

for 2/11

fiction or play writing: write a scene with with rich "puts us there" details and presenting the main character in such a way that reveals both an important value of the main character and at least hints at one of the struggles he or she is or will be dealing with (suggest but do NOT just tell us the goal he or she is trying to achieve) Email this to your reading buddy and to me by Thursday evening

poem or song writing: write a draft of a first poem or song in the series
