One Heart

by

I've tried to write a thousand songs,
But words just won't come out.
For every right, a thousand wrongs.
Now what?

I've tried to make a million rhymes.
Find my eloquence.
I've tried but failed a million times.
So what?

I've tried to give a billion smiles.
Show them that I care.
I could walk a billion miles,
But then what?

I could raise a hundred brows.
Give them all a scare.
I could recite a hundred vows.
All for what?

I've gazed into a dozen eyes.
Empty promises.
I gave in to a dozen lies.
And learned what?

I've learned a lot of Life's true joys,
Evaded apathy,
Escaped a lot of fruitless ploys.
To do what?

I want to climb a world of vines,
Spread truth to the ends of the earth.
Write beauty into a world of lines,
To say what?

But if I can capture just one heart,
Give hope through just one rhyme.
I'll feel as if I've done my part.
That's what!
