Long-Term Writing Goals |
|
I have a confession to make. I'm not sure what my long term goals for writing are. I know that I am an Art Education major and will one day have my own classroom full of students creating work they never imagined. I know that I will be keeping journals that will be work related and ones that will be personal. Journals are a great way to keep record on your students. Something could be troubling them outside or even inside the classroom, and to keep record of how they are doing would be a way to relate and help them. Accuracy and details are important. So important that it could reflect on the child's education. I definitely hope that I will be able to keep that habit. I believe that writing releases negative energy and allows you to become free of a days work. It also allows you to become one with the positive things that have happened in a day or week. It permits you to see things in a different light and helps you sort through any problems that you have suffered through. Writing becomes your friend. It listens. Another hope, or possible goal, is to get through to parents by means of a personal hand written letter. I feel that words written personally for someone means more than an email or typed letter. You never know if anyone is there to listen or if anyone really typed the letter or sent the email. This shows you care and are willing to take the time to tell them how their child is doing in the classroom. I guess that I might see my goal, now that I write. Motivation for students. Everything that I write will reflect on them. Whether it be a letter acknowledging an excellent piece of work or action, or a note simply asking what the problem could be, I think that this would be great motivation for my students. It will help them succeed by guiding them through difficult times. Whether they know it or not, it will be their friend too. |
